Fani, you are a great teacher

Came dear FANI,

my unseasonal, uninvited guest

stayed for a while, left in a hurry

posed to be busy, no time for rest

as if some VVIP, extra ordinary

D’ unexpected visit, surprised us,

taught us, enough of life lessons

no more proud to be city dweller,

a forlorn life, snapping relations

Need alliance with neighbours,

can’t cut off links with relatives

roads are blocked, power’s gone,

find no respite from water crisis

How to breathe, felt suffocated,

drowned in d’ depth of darkness

it taught trick to have deep sleep,

even if d’ AC is fully functionless

Walking is useful, of vast benefit,

preferred then to rely on a vehicle

four wheeler use to be forbidden,

to buy match box, few vegetable

to clean clothes, for their drying,

not to wait for washing machine

no Hospital visit for all ailments,

can take care of own well being

Now convinced, can always live,

be alive without a mobile phone

ATM, credit cards can never help,

learnt to have some cash at home

With humility and pain I do admit,

smart city turned to smashed city

yet you imparted a lot of lessons,

even if devastated entire locality

Now alert how to survive in odds,

in midst of havocs, natural disaster

extend my sincere thanks for d’ jolt

u gave, FANI u are a great teacher

I’ll make decks in each house hold

D’ politicians vow in d’ public,

they’ll be able to do miracles

but when apt time approaches,

go missing or in deep slumber

Sleep broken, five years over,

then come with folded hands

again to urge for their votes,

ready to solve odds, problems

Won’t stay poor, food  no worry,

give vote, make me reach Delhi

your granaries get overloaded,

round d’ year to fill up your belly

If roads bad , full with potholes,

unsafe to walk, insecure to cycle

I will construct concrete roads,

make your life easy and simpler

If no power, I’ll give u power,

no more to drown in darkness

If no water, I’ll supply u water

satisfy all your unfulfilled wish

Press button on tortoise sign,

please do give me your vote

u have to do only a simple job,

I’ll do all as you have thought

People were simple, very poor,

common men of regular village

“Light, road, water what we’ve,

enough for us, we can manage”

“It is no big deal from your end,

that much kindness is expected

if u desire please expand it a bit,

our cremation deck, so congested”

Adept in speeches, tall promises,

not conversant with our culture

couldn’t follow a cremation deck,

what it could be? he didn’t bother

Unaware of the rituals traditions,

behaved as master of all games

can’t express that he didn’t know,

before public a matter of shame

Illogical to admit his ignorance,

can't just reveal his true motive

d' work may or may not be done,

but won’t give a reply in negative

I understood d’ appeal tit by bit,

need not panic so much, he told

u vote for me, send me to Delhi,

I’ll make decks in each house hold
