I casually resolved and
rushed to meet d’ God
my mediocre Santro DX
racing on temple road
Temple doors laid open
for dusk prayer session,
Conch shell to be blown,
drums too beastly beaten
In midst of d’ trumpets’
loud deafening sound,
holy lamps to be lighted
in d’ temple compound
Group recital of hymns,
scores of rituals be done
I evidently love, such an
ambiance of devotion
Minds soaked in adoration,
animals
too enthralled often
Caught sight of a freak dog,
taking a dip in temple pond
Ajar doors pulled apart,
I kept cool, no smart act
to get a glimpse of idols,
not
eager, no hurry at all
Pushing, dashing, jostling
steadily
ought to subside
God grants ample time,
to unfold d’ loaded mind
Initial frenzy of devotees
once
languidly pass over,
a suffocation free period
ought to turn up for sure
By my side I sensed a guy,
tons of queries, lots of why
look curious but sweet chin,
face dubious, shy shrunken
Turned to me after a while
started with a gentle smile
“why apart for long period,
least allured to see d' god?”
“Its none of your business”
I strongly wished to retort
retreated my steps back,
giving a second thought
got irritated to inner core,
silly query, so didn’t answer
With a push or pull gesture,
intend not to see, bit earlier
chaotic milieu makes me sick,
he did avidly accept my logic
In God’s amazing creation,
nothing sustains in isolation
Almighty omnipresent god
never seen, yet not absurd
retains A to Z synchronous
felt in each atom of universe
Sun, moon, all lives on earth,
worms, whales, moth or ants
in mitochondria of all d’ cells,
exist in d’ genes of each allele
I recited facts and he agreed,
yet so conveniently vanished
to bid good bye even if vexed
didn’t get him in temple complex
Campus calm devotees gone
prayer’s over, seen no person
found only d’ poor creature,
Stood quietly, fully startled,
begging with silent words!
to carry
on as dog on earth,
or to pray for a human birth?
Wink less eyes focused on idol,
d' sight I won’t like to miss at all
not just an idol, so lively a god
