Call me ”a working house wife”

I scuffled hard, did MBA, now

full time finance professional,

my wife, not a working lady,

she never joined a job at all

“Do you have a housemaid,

who makes your breakfast?”

“no maids, my wife prepares,

because she does not work”

She sleeps late at night but

for sure gets up at around 5

cleans house, takes shower,

ready in kitchen with knife

lights a diya before d' God

keeps on reciting d' hymns

Because she doesn’t work,

and she’s only a house wife

"Whole day u work in office,

have u any school going kids?"

"Young one in nursery class,

senior studies in standard six

They never go on their own,

she takes them to school too

as she is only a house wife,

evidently has no work to do"

"Who gets grocery from market,

makes the list of cooking items?

she goes to market for purchase,

gets garment, creams and ration

Takes children for hair trimming,

gives clothes in laundry for wash

because she’s just a house wife,

not employed, she has no work"

"What do u do in d’ evening?,"

from tiring job, wish to relax

lie flat on drawing room sofa

she cooks meals, serves d’ kids

Repeatedly calls me for dinner

in the prime time news hour

kids to sleep after bed making

not to get delayed for school
to get up early next morning

be disciplined, follow the rule

meticulously pursues d’ thing

a housewife, she does nothing

Keeps next day’s uniform ready
 arranges d' school back packs,

plans d' breakfast of next dawn,

finishes job, goes to bed d’ last

Kids home work, study, projects
she manages d' entire show too

because she's only a house wife,

obviously she has no work to do

If asked d’ humiliating question

"house wife or working woman?"

works 24 hrs a day, for each one

As daughter in law, wife, mom,

no holiday, no leave even if sick,

no day off, for extra work done,

work as a cook, maid alarm clock

As a teacher, waiter and a nurse

keep ready for any eventuality

even or odd hour, full time duty

my absence makes all insecured

I’m d’ counselor, I’m a comforter

did all odd tasks, d’ entire life

call me ”a working house wife”
