Grand-parenting, a tussle, teeth grinding

                                                

She eats right, plays & sleep proper,

her likes, dislikes, I ought to bother

Dine protocol, no lone area to train,

licit discipline, must make her learn

Wakes up, goes to sleep, as per wish,

efforts on, to mould her sleep habits

Prolong naps at noon evidently odd,

anytime’s sleep time, utterly absurd

TV viewing forbidden, past mid night,

lights put off, a chorus of good night

2nd birthday over, still d’ diapers on,

no worry of mess, once toilet trained  

Speech progress, no area of concern,

funny broken words, sweetly spoken

Never interrupt her attempts to talk,

hear her, talk to her, cuddle and hug

Amused to drain water, from d' filter,

hurls utensils disarray, here & there

Things once done, are already done,

a brake to harsh words, trim d’ tone

 Keep calm intact, stick to your cool,

a less aggressive mode, the real tool

Problems to address in right manner,

curb temper, voice low, speak softer

Mended d’ habits, prune personality

Ameliorate d’ love and care in quality

Cartoons often create no excitement,

  wishes in instant, to see her parents

Parents know not, style of parenting,

an insecure feeling, if doing right thing

No options left, than to remain away,

week end visit of kid, one & only way

Every single incidence a story to hear,

worth remembering for months & years

Parent often miss d’ parenting chance

to be an able mentor, to give guidance

Restive for outing, in an evening stroll,

sees children in bus, back from school

Says them bye bye, sways both hand,

curious to watch a basket ball match

Watch various vehicles, in d’ highway,

chases chirping birds in park, far away

Mimics crow’s hop, peers pups in street,

busy in kitchen work, makes chapattis

Silly sketches drawn on d’ magic slate,

fables spoken for speech improvement

Why d’ things happen in certain ways,

countless queries, infinite how & why

Grand parenting a skill, learn-as-U-go,

scenes alter fast, never an alike show

Rejoice episodes, fountains of pleasure,

challenges in duty, mammoth risky role

Scope to witness, d’ priceless moments,

to hark!, child articulate comic language

A liberal parenting, unlike yester years

d’ social freedom ceded, nil fear factors

Up bring an active child, a true challenge,

dynamics in d’ dealings, needs to change

A generous grandma with a tough will,

long forgotten her child-rearing skill

Often too worried, my baby growing?

Doctor smiled, told no need measuring

Eats well, wets well, guts moving well,

baby obviously active, does never yell

Family meals planned, d’ baby in mind

simple recipes made, all of baby’s kind

If d’ grandpa busy, on piles of papers,

 she dislikes d’ chore, strews over floor

“Your erring notion, must meet it’s end,

aptly interact, with ample time spend”

My comforts less vital, her training first,

her tender feelings, to be answered fast

 

Freely greets all, her social skills sound,

while at parks, parties and play ground

Interacts with the kids, acts quite smart,

with her mom dad, regular phone chat

Hair cut a tussle, in several sittings done,

hears dreamy tales, with rapt attention

Loves baby crow, way it went to school,

with schoolbag, tiffin box, water bottle

Baby downright daring, fully fearless,

never afraid of ghost, dense darkness

 I’m ambitious, must excel in all fields,

unique care given, seems a special kid

A baby princess, from an alien planet,

entice viewers promptly, like a magnet

Mingled in blood, a self esteem sense,

toils with shoe straps, with tiny hands

Sharp her response, not to go placid,

every count to develop, it’s my wish

Several aspects need, care to be taken,

but utterly helpless, for own limitation

Yet spending time enjoying it d’ most,

a treasure to me, a gem most precious
